The Nordics' largest investor conference in life science, NLSDays, was held in Malmö for the third time. This year´s event arranged in September was the most well-attended in the conference's nine-year history with more than 1,500 visitors from 32 countries as well as over 3,000 partnering meetings held.
“This year, our Nordic partners hosted the Super Sessions in order to showcase each Nordic country's prime strengths and assets”, says Olivier Duchamp- Giudicelli, Managing Director of NLSDays and Vice-President of SwedenBIO. The organizer, SwedenBIO, is the largest members’ organization of the life science industry in Sweden. Medeon was one of NLSDay's Premium sponsors and presented Medeon Science Park & Incubator at the exhibition hall. In addition, the startup companies Abarceo Pharma and Lundoch Diagnostics, based at Medeon's incubator, showcased their innovations to investors together with 80+ other startups.
Nordic´s prime strengths
The Nordics are at the forefront of life science development in many areas, which were highlighted on the main stage in five Super Sessions. The Swedish session exemplified cross-over collaborations between different sectors by presenting a successful project run jointly by Volvo Cars and Astra Zeneca. Finland's representatives showcased the deep-tech fusion of biology, quantum physics, mathematics and computing. Denmark positioned itself with a gender session, and Iceland in multi-omics, a biological analysis approach in which the data sets are multiple "omics", such as the genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, etc. Norway highlighted its high-level vaccine technologies.
“NLSDays is not just an event, it is also a great experience. We aim to give participants a Nordic experience by focusing on sustainability, healthy food, efficiency, and positiveness. It's all designed to make people work and do business in a friendly environment. I consider this conference to be one of Europe's top three high-level sponslife science conferences. We don't want to compete with other events but continue to develop our successful concept, offering a `smorgasbord´ of different activities. NLSDays is a well-known brand and we have now reached a critical mass of participating companies, exhibitors, sponsors and investors, and will continue to grow”, says Olivier Duchamp- Giudicelli.
NLSDays 2023
To date, SwedenBio has organized nine NLSDays. After four editions in Stockholm, Malmö was chosen as the place to be as it is closer to the strong Danish life science cluster. Next year's conference, which is also the 10th anniversary, will be held outside Sweden for the first time. On 29-30 November, the gates are open for NLSDays 2023 at Bella Arena at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.
Medeon är en viktig life science-nod med sin centrala placering och specifika nätverk som erbjuder en av Öresundsregionens bästa tillväxtmiljöer för företagande och främjar utbytet mellan akademi, det offentliga och näringslivet.
