About Dent2Health

The overarching objective of Dent2Health is to bridge the gap between oral and systemic health, thereby promoting novel collaborations, innovations, and products with impact on people’s health. Dent2Health is an initiative managed by Medeon Science Park, working closely in partnership with key stakeholders including Medicon Valley Alliance, Folktandvården Skåne, Centrum för primärvårdsforskning, Malmö University, Lund University, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Steno Diabetes Center, Region Skåne and CR Competence. The primary focus of this initiative is to contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases, such as type 2 diabetes.

Dent2Health encompasses three key focus areas:

• Development of a screening tool, based on oral biomarkers, for type 2 diabetes. A screening tool that can be utilized at the dental office would enable screening of a large part of the population.
• A fundamental objective of Dent2Health is to stimulate increased collaboration between dental care and primary care, promoting an interdisciplinary approach and holistic patient care.
• Establishing a research and innovation hub with a central focus on exploring the connections between oral and systemic health.

An important part of the initiative is the annual Dent2Health conference, and the third conference is scheduled to take place in Malmö on October 9th, 2024.

The conference program consists of a diverse array of topics, including subjects such as the correlation between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease, as well as the role of oral microbiota in systemic health.

I vår mun finns mycket information om hur resten av kroppen mår, information om vår allmänhälsa. Tänk om man kunde använda denna information för att hitta individer i riskzonen för
typ 2 diabetes och sedan bromsa upp eller helt förhindra att sjukdomen utvecklas. Just detta handlar Dent2Health om.

Målsättningen med Dent2Health är att bidra till prevention av typ 2 diabetes genom att facilitera utveckling av ett screeningverktyg som kan användas hos tandläkaren. Screening hos tandläkaren skulle innebära att man når en stor andel av befolkningen i Sverige.

Dent2Health har tre huvudområden som vi jobbar parallellt med:

• Utveckling av ett screeningverktyg för typ 2 diabetes baserat på orala biomarkörer
• Facilitera ökad samverkan mellan tandvård och primärvård
• Uppbyggnad av en innovations- och forskningshub med fokus på sambanden mellan
  munhälsa och allmänhälsa.

Dent2Health är ett initiativ som drivs av Medeon i nära samarbete med Medicon Valley Alliance,
Folktandvården Skåne, Centrum för primärvårdsforskning, Malmö universitet, Lunds universitet, Steno Diabetes Center,
Köpenhamns universitet, Region Skåne samt ett antal regionala företag.

Den 9 oktober, 2024 anordnas den tredje årliga Dent2Health-konferensen i Malmö, ytterligare information kommer i slutet av augusti.
